Recipes

This is how I'm boosting my protein intake.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup nonfat Greek yogurt (12g protein).
  • 1 scoop protein powder (25g protein).
  • Water (or milk) to blend, about 1 cup.
  • 1 serving frozen fruit, about 130 to 140 grams. My favorites are mango, strawberry, and mixed berry.

I layer all of the ingredients in a large cup, usually my shaker cup. First I put in the Greek yogurt, then the protein powder, then the water, and finally the fruit. I'm currently using and loving Dymatize ISO100 in the Fruity Pebbles flavor. I just finished a tub of the vanilla and it was fine, but the Fruity Pebbles is so tasty. (This is not an ad, I'm not paid for this. I just really like it.)

I use my immersion blender to blend all the ingredients, making sure to get all the way to the bottom of the cup. Sometimes I give the sides of the cup a scrape down with a spatula if I can see streaks of the yogurt or protein powder. You could also use a regular blender but I love how quickly I can clean the immersion blender. I'm also only dirtying one cup.

Generally the fruit has a gram or two of protein, so this smoothie has about 38 grams of protein. This helps me reach my goal of at least 100 grams of protein daily.
